Hello, I currently have a t-mobile cell phone. I'm switching to a cell only and don't have a landline. I'd like a phone with data capability. What t-mobile phones work best with speech software. And, which software in general works best with T-mobile phones? Any suggestions would be apreciated.
You have a few options.
What seems to be the most popular would be Nokia E or N series hones with Talks or Mobilespeak. HTC also has phones that work with either software. Basically www.nuance.com or www.codefactory.es I think are the pages for Talks and Mobile Speak Respectively, each page has a lit of compatible phones, and I think it is even broekn down by provider. Another two options that I know of are Smart Hal by Dolphin www.yourdolphin.com and the new Orator by Humanware that works exclusively on Blackberry, it is very new so there might be problems, I just don't know either way. And, of course, Iphones are cool, but not very geared towards Office type of work, they are very entertainment oriented.
I got a Nokia N82, practically unused, off of my local Craigslist for $240, I happened to hve a software license already, I saw somewhere that AT&T offerred the Nokia N86 for around 200 with a 2 year commitment, so look at T Mobile's phone list if you are eligible for renewing a contract, then check Craigslist and check Blind Bargains or here for someone selling a phone with Talks or Mobilespeak already loaded.
I think that's pretty much all your options, at least all that I know off.
cheers

Don't forget you also have a few windows mobile phones on T mobile as well, though i would go with the nokias . just a personal preference. Be careful with the nokias though cuz not all work on the Tmobile 3G network. You may want to consult with nokia as to which ones do. Also be weary of that N86 deal that blind bargain mentioned as the n86 north american version isn't out yet and they like everyone else on ebay are selling the international version which may not work on the updated ATT 3G network, and i called the company that has that deal going on and they were as clueless as clueless could be about it.
